Stone Mountain barn house is a new design by Yankee Barn Homes. It is an excellent example of the practical application of our “custom design” feature. Let me explain. The clients wishing to build Stone Mountain were inspired by a YBH design, The Cabot (see the inspirational barn home and floor plans here). They liked everything about The Cabot, but knew there were a few features they’d need to change. No Problem. We do this type of thing every day at Yankee Barn. It’s just one of the many qualities which make us stand out from other home-build companies. Our skilled engineering staff meets with each client and spends considerable time going over all aspects of your design. Even if you’ve used a previous design as your spring board, our staff will steer you through a number of questions designed to meet every requirement you have for your home.
Stone Mountain has a traditional barn house exterior
encapsulating a 21st Century barn home interior. An open floor plan with lofted post and beam architecture rules the day. The 4 bedroom (2 possible master bedroom suites), 3 1/2 bath design is pretty near perfect. The entry is a two-story space with a view to the great room, an even larger two-story space. To the right is an open-concept kitchen and dining room. The dining room opens to a sun room by way of French doors with side lite transoms. Even though it’s completely walled off, the sun room’s door and window design allows it to function as an annex to the dining room or as a room unto itself. The best of both worlds!
The first master bedroom suite occupies the entire left end of the first level floor plan. Notice the design creativity where the master bedroom door is concerned. No one wants a bedroom door right off a living room/great room space. The post and beam alcove provides a ‘buffer zone’ between public and private rooms and allows the bedroom entrance to remain unseen from the great room. The second level floor plan houses 2 bedrooms with a shared bath and plenty of built-ins and storage space. The lower level has a three bay garage, entrance to living space through a mudroom, a utilities/mechanical room and a second possible master bedroom suite.
